Bitcoin is good for business.

Lower fees, instant settlement, no chargebacks, no middlemen. Bitcoin is the best money for businesses — and the tools to accept it have never been better or more accessible.

THE CASE FOR BITCOIN

Why every business should accept it.

Low fees, no minimums.

Lightning transactions carry fees of fractions of a cent — orders of magnitude cheaper than Visa and Mastercard. No minimums, no percentage cuts, no monthly fees.

No fraud, no chargebacks

Bitcoin transactions are irreversible. Once a payment is made it cannot be reversed or disputed. No chargeback fraud, ever.

Instant settlement.

Lightning payments settle instantly, just like cash. No waiting for card processors to batch and transfer. The money is yours the moment it arrives.

Attract Bitcoiner customers

Bitcoiners actively seek out businesses that accept Bitcoin and will choose you over a competitor every time. Getting listed on BTC Map puts you in front of that audience immediately.

ALREADY ON SQUARE?

Bitcoin is now on by default.

As of March 30, 2026, Square has auto-enabled Bitcoin payments for all eligible sellers via the Lightning Network. If you’re a Square merchant in the U.S., your terminal is already set up to accept Bitcoin — here’s what you need to know.

Check your settings

Bitcoin payments are now enabled by default. Make sure you’re running the latest Square software and confirm the setting is active in your dashboard.

Consider keeping the sats

Square defaults to auto-converting Bitcoin to USD. Consider turning that off and keeping the sats — you’re getting paid in the hardest money ever created.

Attract Bitcoiners

0% processing fees until end of 2026, then 1% — far lower than card fees. Actively encourage it. Put a sign up. Make it easy for customers.

⚠️
Important limitations to know: Square’s Bitcoin payments are capped at $600 per individual transaction and $20,000 per day. Not available to businesses in New York. If your business regularly processes larger transactions or you want full sovereignty over your payments, BTCPay Server has no such limits.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Your’re early. That’s the point.

Not every customer pays in Bitcoin today — and that’s fine. The value of accepting Bitcoin now isn’t purely about today’s transaction volume. It’s about positioning your business ahead of an adoption curve that is clearly moving in one direction.

Square auto-enabling Bitcoin for 4 million merchants is not a small thing. Toast, Clover, and other POS providers will inevitably follow. Bitcoin is becoming infrastructure, and the businesses that were early will have the advantage of experience, reputation, and a loyal Bitcoiner customer base that grows with adoption.

Getting listed on BTC Map today means you’re visible to every Bitcoiner who checks the app in your area — now and as that community grows. That’s compounding value that costs you nothing extra.
